Whenever you are free. I can have this selection prepared at a moments notice, though as of now I am testing a few different teas.

( which cake can work with, or anything really--- he can make it work. )

Then I'll be there soon. [No time like the present, after all. And Eagle's free time couldn't be better spent with Leaks, he thinks.

Though he does take make a quick detour to buy a selection of small cakes, holding those carefully before he makes his way to the designated address and knocks!]

( both ears perk up, and he sits up straight in his chair--- a black and simple plush one that almost matches the same shade of his fur. )

Come in.

( he already knows it's eagle, and all it takes is a flick of his wrist to start heating one of the kettles on his stove. )

[The moment Eagle opens the door (one hand still balancing the cake box), he recognizes that expression on Leaks' face. Or really, more specifically his ears. Eagle smiles back in response.]

Thank you for inviting me. I brought cakes... I thought they'd go well with most things.

[He'd even made sure to buy different kinds! (Just not the kinds with chocolate in them, just in case.)]

( a box... yes, it looks like one he's seen in one of the bakeries. he knows what to expect, though it's the fact that eagle has brought them that has leaks' tail wiggling as he stands up. )

You are very thoughtful. ( he moves over to where the kettle's boiling grows louder, and gestures at his counter. ) You may leave those there as I prepare the drinks.

( his living room is full of bookcases and books, two chairs (one chair he was resting in), and a table. )

... have you been returned to the virtual version of your yard since we last went?

[Eagle always feels as if it's easier to tell what someone is thinking when they have animal features. They're just so much more expressive and honest. Leaks looks happy... and that makes Eagle smile.]

I-It's nothing. [He could't even imagine coming here without bringing some sort of gift.]

And no... I haven't... after all, it's not really the Upper Yard, right? Um... have you? [Eagle tries not to look around Leaks' apartment as he sets down the cakes but he's looking anyway, taking in the huge amount of books, the cozy chairs. This place really does feel a lot like Leaks.]

... it is not nothing. ( compliments are rarely given. despite knowing eagle doesn't know that, he still wishes that people would be less humble and accept them--- especially when they mean more than they sound. )

I have not. My hands have been busy with... other things as of late.

( he pours the water into a pot and sets it on a tray, where cups are waiting alongside some teabags and some other tiny bowls with sugar and lemon. he brings it over, going back for the cakes with a separate plate for them. )

Specifically, gardening. Is that something you've done before?

[Eagle is rarely given compliments so he isn't very good accepting them, even more so when he was kind of convinced still that Leaks was the thoughtful one. But he can't argue with that, and he accepts the compliment with a bashful smile, holding it close in his heart. He was thoughtful...

Which is why he's still kind of out of it when Leaks comes back with the cakes and he jumps on realizing that he hadn't done anything. He's learning though that maybe... maybe that's not a bad thing. Or at least it's not something that he can't make up for by inviting Leaks over next time.]

I-I've done gardening before. [In fact that's kind of his job here now? If lettuces count as gardening, that is.]

That's amazing though. A garden... um... what are you growing?

And have you been successful in your endeavors? ( politely said as he pours some hot water into each up, placing one bag into each. one cup is placed in front of eagle while he keeps one for himself, and leaks is more than happy to pull some of the treats out of the bag so he can get a better look at them.

he's not picky, it's more that... he's rarely hungry. )

If you have, then your assistance may be appreciated. ( as for what he's growing, leaks hums before responding: )

Plants that are almost like ones from my home. Nothing particularly special other than some nostalgia.

( though for those who came from his world, they would recognize it as very sinister and deadly. )

I-I think I've been pretty successful! [In that things were growing and thriving! Eagle is actually kind of proud of it... maybe just a little.

The treats pulled from the bag consist of a slice of strawberry shortcake, a tiny chestnut tart and a raspberry meringue tart, along with some savory crackers with cheese and dried tomato. Really, he'd gone for a few different things in the hopes that Leaks would like at least one so he's watching with a hopeful look on his face as Leaks pulls the treats out.]

And I'd be happy to help. Have you started them yet? I think it might still be a little chilly but if you start them earlier then they can get stronger and they'll do better outside too.

[Even if Leaks might be growing something deadly, Eagle would still believe wholeheartedly that it's only for nostalgia.]

( the variety of snacks has him curious, from the crackers to the cake... he eyes each one with scrutiny before settling on the tiny chestnut tart. with an equally tiny knife, he cuts a sliver off--- barely a tasting. )

They are already strong. My magic keeps them safe from the elements, among other things.

( leaks smiles and nods politely, before lifting the slice up to his mouth and eating it. )

... ah. It is quite nice... not entirely sweet. It tastes like something that I would eat from my own world.

( he settles into his chair, and closes his eyes, ears folding. )

That's convenient, isn't it? [And anything that keeps things alive, must be a good thing.

He looks so happy though when he sees Leaks eating the tiny slice of cake... and that he likes it! With a smile, Eagle carefully pushes the rest of the tart his way too.]

If you like it, you can have the rest. [With that said, Eagle is carefully lifting his cup to his lips to have a taste.]

( ah... well, he's happy to cut himself another tiny slice, but that's all. he should save some room for the tea, which he also takes a sip of. )

I do not eat often, or a lot. It is a treat to enjoy something like this while I desire food.

( something about ribika biology that makes them pretty peckish in general, or the fact that food was generally scarce outside of the towns... but leaks was also a hermit. )

It is very tasty. Thank you. ( and then leaks places his tea back down. )

Eagle. Do you consider yourself good or evil?

I-I see. Then I'll bring some thing that can keep longer next time. [Because while cakes are tasty and beautiful, they do not keep well in the least.

The question though surprises him and he stares for a moment, wide-eyed and confused before he thinks of his answer.]

I... I guess "good"? Um... why do you ask?

( it's not exactly a common question to ask those who also may not think of alignments in a binary and clear way, but to hear eagle's answer is not surprising in the least. )

No reason. ( leaks' ears twitch as he reaches out with an open hand. ) And what would you consider me?

( the other hand is busy taking some more of that tart. )

[Eagle tries his best and hopes he's doing good... so it's more a reflection of his own wishes at this point.

He does look at the open hand though.... and then puts his own hand in it?]

Good. You're good.

( a nod, and he curls his finger's around eagle's hand, giving it a gentle and reassuring squeeze. )

Then I will be good. For you.

( he takes a moment to chew on the next sliver of tart before speaking again. )

I am thinking about opening a place where hot drinks can be enjoyed and books can be read. What do you think?

[Eagle isn't entirely certain he understands what it means for Leaks to be good for him. He was already, always good. Wasn't he?

He doesn't get to go too far down that train of thought though.]

S-So something like a cafe? Is that why you're making the tea? [As for what he thinks:]

That sounds great!

( yes. very good. not a murderer or anything, just a... quiet book reading cat. )

It is. Some of these are samples that I preferred. A black tea, a green tea, and a chocolate tea.

( and with three cups filled with bags inside set in front of them, he motions toward each. )

[Yup, no murderer here just a good cat and his bird friend.

Eagle focuses on the cups this time, looking at each in turn though he doesn't really have the best sense of smell. Still! He's going try them all if he can.]

D-Do you have a favourite out of these three? [And he'll start with that one.]

The first one. ( he gestures to it with a turned hand. ) It is... bitter, but not in a medicinal way. It calms me in a way that not much can.

( leaks closes his eyes and smiles softly. )

I figure that, if and when I open? I will only provide a few options. I do not want to overwhelm a person with too many choices. I will give them what I believe is the best.

I'll try that one first, then. [Who knows if caffeine is good for birds? Eagle certainly doesn't know but he happily makes himself a cup, blowing on it a little before he has a taste.]

Providing options is always good. And I'm sure if it's something you like then they'll like it too. [He's also highly biased but that's fine, right?

Eagle brings the cup up and has a tentative sip. It is bitter, but it does calm him and he has another sip after the first.] It's good.

( it's fine to be biased. leaks prefers it that way; he's not much for convincing others. )

I am glad you enjoy it. This next one... it has a woody taste, but it is said to be cleansing in some way.

( the green tea. )

... do the animals from your world enjoy tea as well?

[Eagle isn't quite finished with his first cup so he looks at that, then flusters and sets it down before making a second cup with the green tea. He's going to be drinking a lot of tea today.

Just like he did with the first one he tries to give it a sniff to breathe in the scent. There is something woody about it. It kind of smells like home.]

S-Some of them do! [They even have wine!]

W-What about you? And what is this tea supposed to be cleansing? [Unsure, he still takes a sip of it anyway, making a pleased, happy face.]

( he will be, but at least he has great company. they both do, really.

a part of leaks is, again, somewhat jealous of eagle's ability to... get along??? with the other animals of his yard. but he's endearing and pure and many things that leaks could ever be. )

The spirit. The palette. Many things.

( there isn't enough green tea in the world for leaks. )

... I hope the flavors have been kind to you so far. The last one is much sweeter.
